LAWS1106 Criminal Law II

OutcomesStudents are able to analyse selected offences; identify whether a defence may be relied upon to answer a given criminal charge; identify whether given conduct gives rise to criminal liability; think critically about selected aspects of the criminal law; and contribute to debate about reform of the criminal law.
 
ContentThis unit examines a selection of offences, including drug offences. It also provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to analyse the defences that may be raised in answer to a criminal charge that comes before courts in Western Australia.
 
AssessmentThis includes an assignment (20 per cent), practicum (including court report) (20 per cent) and a final examination (60 per cent).

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course.
