LAWS3347 Supervised Research I

OutcomesStudents are able to (1) formulate an appropriate research topic; (2) conduct relevant research into the topic; (3) synthesise the research; and (4) write an 8000-word dissertation on the approved topic.
 
ContentStudents must submit an 8000-word dissertation on a topic approved and supervised by an academic staff member of the Law School. The date for submission is the last day of the semester of enrolment or such other date as the Dean may decide. Further requirements relating to form, presentation and examination of the dissertation are generally the same as for dissertations submitted for LAWS4345/LAWS4346 Supervised Research II Part 1/Part 2, and students should consult the Law School Honours Brochure in this respect.
 
AssessmentThe dissertation is assessed by an examiner and an assessor.

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit because the Faculty has been granted an exemption.

Book lists relating to 'Preliminary Reading', 'Recommended Reading' and 'Textbooks' are, in most cases, available at the University Co-operative Bookshop (from early January) and appropriate administrative offices for students to consult. For first-year units the Bookshop will endeavour to make available photocopies of book lists for individual units. Books marked with an asterisk (*) are available in paperback.
